Thematic Workshop with study visits related to cultural routes will took place on 28 – 29 November 2013 in Mallorca, Spain, hosted by project partner Mallorca Council – Environment Department in the frame of the INTERREG IVC project CHARTS.
In October Latvia became the seventh country to unveil EuroVelo signposting along the Iron Curtain Trail, joining Germany, the Czech Republic, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary and Serbia.
Ever tried cycling on the beach? Not always the most fun, especially on a fully loaded touring bike. But in Latvia a unique stretch of coastline has been prepared for touring cyclists – its naturally hard surface making touring a breeze. The new 160 km route takes in a total of 34 km of beachy trail as it winds along the pristine Baltic coast between Riga and Ainaži.
Vidzeme Tourism Association, the official coordinator of EuroVelo 13 - Iron Curtain trail route in Latvia, has published a new video about the EV13 in Northern Latvia (Vidzeme) from Riga till Estonia border. The video shows the sights, attractions, militatry heritage and local infrastructure in Northern Latvia. EuroVelo 13 route now is fully signposted, and there are maps available for this section as well! The route will be further developed in the next year as well. Welcome!

The thematic workshop on good practices related to ‘visitor information’ and ‘cycling for tourists’ refers to study visits at five tourism information centres that took place on 9 - 10 September 2013, in Vidzeme region, Latvia, hosted by the project partner Vidzeme Tourism Association, Latvia. 37 participants came together in order to exchange experiences on these topics related to good practices particularly on tourism destinations among project partners.
With a help of the CentralBalticCycling Project, a new EuroVelo 13 Cycling Route “Iron Curtain Trail”, which is more than 560 km long in Latvia, has been developed. Also, a new National River Cycling Route, which is more than 400 km long in Latvia, has been developed. During this summer four enjoyable cycling tours took a place in Northern Latvia and the new routes has been tested by more than 150 cycling enthusiasts.
From September 12th-14th, 2013 Vidzeme Tourism Association participated in the Greenways Product Project Working Seminar and 6th European Greenways Award Ceremony in Viseu, Portugal.
Friday's evening, on 3rd August, in the park Ogres Zilie kalni (Ogre Blue Hills) at the high bank of Dubkalni quarry, were held the event of science, music, and art project Dabas koncertzāle (Nature Concert Hall), as the main character was the Esker.
