VTA supports the Charter of Silver Cyclists
During the 3rd International EuroVelo and Greenways conference “Cycling for all – developing successful cycle tourism products for everyone” that was held in Vienna, Austria on October 14, 2016, the newly-elected president of ECTN – Mr. Raitis Sijāts (who is also Chairman of the Board at Vidzeme Tourism Association) together with the President of European Cyclists’ Federation, President of European Greenways Association, as well as about 70 participants from 23 different nationalities signed the Charter of Silver Cyclists. The conference was also attended by representatives from European Commission and European Travel Commission.
The Charter is a call to European (Cycle) tourism businesses; local, regional, national and European public bodies; and non-governmental organisations and the people of Europe to take advantages of the opportunities that the Silver Cyclists provide should be treated equally with other cycle tourists and high-quality tourism products for a variety of budgets should be developed to cater for them.
Silver Cyclists Charter initiative has been a direct result of the Silver Cyclists project, where VTA has been a partner from Latvia, co-funded by the European Commission. The Charter and more information about the Silver Cyclists project can be obtained here - http://silvercyclists.eu/
