Everyone is invited to the Saulkrasti town festival!

Created/updated 18.06.2014 23:06
On 3-6 July, various events in Saulkrasti will mark the region’s festival. This year’s slogan is “Saulkrasti has awoken!” so many events will involve the time of the day when we have usually gone to bed.

What happens in Saulkrasti when the streets get dark, less people are around and the sun has gone down? What makes us stay awake and what does it mean to be awake?

This time the first big event of the Saulkrasti town festival is the annual beach volleyball tournament “Saulkrastu kokteilis”, which will be held in the new Sea Park on the 3rd and 4th July and will go on until late at night. In order for everyone to be ready for Saturday night’s big concert, we will start Saturday morning with a wake-up call and morning exercises, as well as with a market hosting craftsmen and merchants selling goods produced in Latvia. There will be activities and a concert for the kids in Sun Square. In the centre of Saulkrasti you will be able to visit an applied art exhibition and the art exhibition “openart”. There will be various sports events throughout the day: a fishing contest in the sea from a boat, football, street basketball, beach volleyball (mixed group), arm wrestling contests and demonstrations, canoeing in the sea, a marathon, a half marathon, a short lap, competitions for the children, attractions, novuss (mixed group) and table tennis.

After a short break we invite everyone to join in the festival procession in the evening, the slogan of which is “Let’s wake the sleeping!”.

In the first part of this year’s concert we invite everyone to sing songs and dance dances that can wake everyone up, and when night falls there will be a night concert, a DJ tent and fireworks.

We will begin Sunday morning with the traditional national dog contest “Saulkrastu kauss”, a dog show and the IV Saulkrasti kokle player ensemble festival “Koklē vēju vanadziņš”. At sunset everyone is welcome to come to the festival’s final concert in Sun Square!
