Cēsis Castle Medieval Days Taste of history
This year’s instalment of Cēsis Castle Medieval Days invites you to explore the fascinating world of medieval food. Participate in cookery master classes and learn how to prepare food the medieval way.
On the first day explore medieval cuisine according to social hierarchy. On the second day travel the continent with master classes of medieval Europe’s cuisine. A banquet for lords and another for peasants will illustrate what was eaten and how people on the opposite ends of social scale behaved at the feast table. Most competent doctor in Livonia will give advice on best cures for overeating. Meet castle’s gardener and learn about roots and herbs grown in the newly created kitchen garden. Hear wise woman tell how to cure ailments with the help of herbs. In addition to this year’s thematic activities witness knights tournament, archery competition, hear minstrels and story tellers as well as try your hand at a variety of medieval crafts and other engaging activities for whole family.
